Coronation Street star Andy Whyment surprised fans by sharing a video of himself singing a song that links him to a role he played before he rose to fame on the Manchester soap.
The actor has spent the last 25 years on our screens in the popular ITV soap as the lovable Kirk Sutherland, and that doesn’t include his uncredited appearances.
He actually appeared on the long-running Salford-based show in 1990 and 1997, simply called Mark. He also previously appeared on the show as Wayne, a young man simply buying fireworks at the Kabin.

It wasn’t until 2000 that Andy was cast as a series regular as Kirk, and the rest, as they say, is history. But it’s Andy’s social media that’s currently getting fans talking after he recently joined TikTok.
Andy has been seen expanding his horizons online, and while he’s active on Instagram, he’s also established himself on TikTok. In his first video, he was seen speaking directly to the camera and saying, “Hi, just to let you know, I’m officially on TikTok! I tried verifying myself, but apparently Wikipedia, ITV, IMDb, and a newspaper article weren’t enough to make them turn around and say, ‘Oh yeah, that’s him!’ But yeah, that’s me! andy.whyment7, so if you want, follow me: cheers!”
Since then, he has regularly posted videos on the platform, from giving a look behind the scenes of Corrie, to dancing in his living room with his wife Nicola and daughter Holly.

But Andy’s latest video saw him singing, something some will know he enjoys, and the post was quickly flooded with comments as he belted out the Oasis track Half the World Away, which was also the famous theme song to the popular BBC sitcom The Royle Family, in which Andy starred as Darren Sinclair-Jones from 1999 to 2000.
The Salford-born star captioned the video, which also features him playing guitar, “Some of you asked, so here goes…. Half The World Away #oasis #roylefamily #darren #fyp.” Andy was also seen responding to a series of fan comments.
As one said, “Oh my god, I completely forgot you were in the royal family lol. Damn, I loved that show,” Andy replied, “It was amazing to be a part of it.” Another admitted, “It seems like a lifetime ago looking at you like that,” to which he added, “I know the craziness of 26 years ago.” A third shared, “Amazing. I love the royal family, you were amazing,” and Andy replied, “I loved being a part of it.”
