Louise Thompson’s boyfriend, Ryan Libbey, fought back tears as he shared his “visceral” reaction to Louis Theroux’s Manosphere documentary this week.

The couple spoke on the He Said, She Said podcast this week about the Netflix show that follows the lives of misogynistic and dangerous content creators.

They shared their fears about raising their four-year-old son Leo these days and how they hope they have done enough as parents to ensure he grows up to respect women.

Ryan, 35, said he was on the verge of tears and felt “so emotional” about the topic and described the anger he felt watching the show, while Louise, 36, also broke down.

Louise says in the podcast: ‘We started watching Louise Theroux’s show Manosphere and Ryan literally had to stop, he was like, ‘I can’t go on.’

“It gave you such a visceral reaction.”

Ryan then explained: “I now, as a father of a son, have a role to play in countering what they are doing…”

Louise then asked him, “What if I went up to Leo’s bedroom and he was watching a video of him hating on a woman, Andrew Tate?”

He replied, “I’d hang up my fucking phone halfway, pack a bag, and say we’re going camping for as long as it takes for you to listen to the message.” I’m literally holding back tears right now because I feel so strongly about this.

“I don’t even know why I’m so emotional. If it ever happened, it would be the greatest test ever for me as a father.

“These people aren’t new, but now we’re glorifying them. They have huge platforms. I find it terrifying because they’re so degrading towards women. It’s so wrong in so many ways.

I have a real problem because we’re amplifying these people. I’m going to raise Leo to be respectful and call out the bullshit he represents. We live in a world that amplifies loud people.

Louise then broke down, saying, “As a parent, you always think these things won’t happen to your children. You always think if you do a good job, they’ll be good people. But what if they don’t?”

“Let’s hope they’re not part of the school crew that watches this kind of video.”

“Because it’s not good enough. It’s a little out of place that I walk around with nothing on my ring finger.

“When we were away, I was thinking about it because there was a guy watching me in a restaurant… A guy with really blue eyes… So it occurred to me that I should wear an engagement ring because otherwise people might think we’re on vacation with the family.”

This comes after Louise shared an emotional update on her health issues last month, as she continues to recover from PTSD.

It also affects digestion, clotting, and many other important processes. I’m going off on a tangent, but I feel like doing some research on what happened to me regarding SSRIs, gut health, digestion, bleeding, and the nervous system because they’re all interconnected… and I’m still bleeding in weird places…

“Yes, places I can see. But not where I should be as a woman once a month. It’s a minefield. Anyway, a few years ago I thought I’d never like to travel again, but here we are, a completely normal family…

“I won’t lie, I have a few safety nets to fall back on. I think it makes sense. I brought an arsenal of lotions and potions, probiotics, magnesium balm, baths, tea bags, and things to make me feel at home…

“Including a dream new cream for fissures. Who would have thought I’d say those words? Is it the air pressure? The last time I was here I basically had a prolapse, so it’s all gone since 2024. I think everything has helped.”

Last month, Louise shared an emotional letter addressed to her ostomy bag, two years after the bag was fitted during a lifesaving procedure.

Ulcerative colitis is a chronic bowel condition in which the colon and rectum become inflamed and small ulcers develop on the lining of the colon, which may bleed.

A stoma is a surgically created opening on the abdomen that is made to divert the flow of bodily waste into a medical device, which the person can then empty.
